How To Shine & Sparkle This Summer

Get Your Glow On

As soon as summer arrives (despite the fact it's currently raining outside as I write this - classic) I always like to update my wardrobe and my makeup collection. With the next few months set to be full of events such as festivals and parties, it's no wonder that highlighters, glow kits and sequins are fittingly bang on trend right now. For my 24th birthday, which happened just a couple of weeks ago, I received some gorgeous little goodies for my makeup bag and beauty regime - including unicorn makeup brushes! So I've got together my favourites which will help to give you a little shine this season (including those magical brushes I just mentioned) that will ensure you show up to glow up without breaking the bank. #SassQueen.

Unicorn Horn Makeup Brushes
One of my favourite presents I received for my 24th birthday was this pretty little holographic diamond shaped makeup case complete with a 10-piece brush set. The brushes are so soft and light on the skin and cater to every need, including a fan brush for highlighting! I also love the shiny lilac unicorn horn style of the brushes and the case is just gorgeous. I've seen this style of brushes all over Instagram and after a good google you can find some that will fit your needs, or simply visit Spectrum Collections where you'll find loads of similar sets.

Sleek Highlighting Palette
I've wanted this palette for a while as I'd seen quite a few makeup lovers raving about it across social media. For just £10, it comes with four gorgeous shades, including powdered illuminators which can be swept on with a brush, and a creamy highlighter which really makes your cheekbones pop. The gold palette also provides a little mirror and brush so it's perfect for using on-the go, so you can pop it in bag and party on. I'd highly recommend it if you're searching for a decent highlighter this summer or you just want to branch out and add a little more glam to your look.

Va Va Voom Mascara

Va Va Voom
With any glam makeup look, I feel that the eyes can be one of the most important features to focus on. However, if I'm hitting a party in a field or an all day barbecue, I don't like to pile on the eyeshadow and eyeliner too much and simply prefer to invest in a good mascara. Seventeen are a highstreet makeup brand that don't break the bank, offering really good value for money - last summer I was completely head over heels for their contour kit as I mentioned here. Once more they've wowed me again with this incredible volumising mascara aptly named Va Va Voom. The thick brush catches every lash and the shade of 'blackest black' helps to define the lashes and keep full focus on the eyes.

The Gypsy Shrine
Chunky Mermaid Face, Hair & Body Glitter: The Gypsy Shrine

Chunky Mermaid Glitter
I recently had the pleasure of meeting The Gypsy Shrine who gave me serious mermaid vibes when they coated me in this beautiful Chunky Mermaid glitter! The glitter was applied with hair gel and a brush then held in place with a spritz of hairspray, and was completely safe to use on my skin. The glitter is great for putting not only on your face but on your body and in your hair - perfect for finishing off your look whether you're off on holiday or off to a festival! I can't wait to use this glitter again later this summer for some ultimate sparkle - I'm feeling applying it under my eyes or incorporating it into some cute little plaits.

Feeling Younger Lush
Feeling Younger Skin Tint: Lush

The Most Underrated Creamy Highlighter
Finally I am proud to introduce the most underrated highlighter on the highstreet! Feeling Younger is a bright, light skin tint which can be used to highlight the cheek bones, brow bone and other features you'd like to make pop. After previously using Glow Pot by Topshop which I'd found a little bit too heavy on my skin, I discovered this delicate lightweight formula was much more suitable. The pot lasts absolutely ages as you only need a tiny bit, and can be applied with a brush or as I do, using my fingers. I use it on my cheekbones, chin, nose, the corners of my eyes and my cupids bow and paired with my Sleek highlighting palette I create the perfect strobing look. I'd highly recommend this product if you're looking for a cream highlighter that goes above and beyond and sits effortlessly on the skin.

Are you adding a little shine and sparkle to your makeup look this summer? Are there any products I've mentioned that you want to try this season? Please let me know in the comments as I love reading all of your replies, and don't forget to follow me below!
