It's been a while since I wrote a chatty 'personal' post, but with February already on the horizon and the fact I've had a sort of productive month, I wanted to catch up. Plus, my last few posts have been fashion and travel related, and sometimes I do like to come on here and have a bit of a ramble, albeit even if I don't do it enough. If you've been following this blog for some time, you might know that last year was kind of crappy for me as a year in general. I was in Ghana until the Spring, which was both an incredible, and an incredibly hard experience - but this wasn't the reason for my crappy year.
When I got back from Ghana, I hadn't anticipated how lost I would feel, and I literally didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I was applying for tonnes of jobs, and the ones I actually got to interview for weren't selecting me because I didn't have enough, or the relevant, experience. Other factors meant that I just wasn't happy with where my life was going and I was having a lot of self-doubt. Thankfully, I found support and guidance in close people around me and instead of crawling under a rock and feeling sorry for myself, I have managed to not only figure out what I want to do with my life but take the vital steps in achieving it - which I will update you on later this year!
In the meantime, I'm trying to work as hard as I can and soon hope to (finally) begin my driving lessons! Yes, I am 23 and no I have never had a single driving lesson. Honestly, I've wanted to learn since I was 17 but I really struggled with money at sixth-form and at university I guess I just didn't find the time for it. It's a regret of mine now because I worked a lot of heavy shifts at first a pub and then later on in retail, and I do get annoyed at myself for not finding the time to do it back then. But then again, I was working ridiculous shifts, sometimes clocking off at 11pm only to be back in work again for 8am the next day. I'm just so happy that I finally have some spare money and actual TIME to do it now, and hope to start learning in the next couple of weeks.
As for the here and now, I've really enjoyed starting a brand new year off. I've felt so motivated and for me it has made January simply fly by. I realise I haven't curated loads of blog posts, but I have published posts that I'm really happy with (including this one and this one!) and the content for me is up to scratch. I also have some hopefully exciting blogging opportunities coming up - okay I'm not exactly launching my own homeware range or anything but I always feel so lucky for the things that I have received through blogging. I hope that with my busy schedule I can still continue to create great content for my readers, and I even have started planning for a new little venture which you may have seen - my Youtube channel! I just have one video on there at the moment, but I hope to get a lot more content out there during this year.
Finally, the things I'm looking forward to aside from working and learning to drive (is this me... adulting?) definitely includes the fact that Spring is now just around the corner. I really can't wait to spend an afternoon in a beer garden, or sunbathing with an ice lolly, or even heading to somewhere pretty for a picnic! Spring is my favourite time of year and I can't wait to finally get on a playsuit and some sandals! For now though, I'm okay with the cold weather - especially when Manchester looks so pretty with its red lanterns for Chinese New Year!
