Autumn In Manchester

Location: The Quays, Salford, Greater Manchester

September always feels like a brand new chapter. Maybe it's because I've always associated it with a new school year or perhaps it's just because I enjoy watching summer slowly fade into Autumn, but there's something a little bit fresh and magic about this month. Here in Manchester, the city is always full of loads to do and see no matter what stage of the year it is, so if you're trying to get over your summer blues, or just don't fancy retreating to your sofa with a duvet just yet, read on to see my little list of things to do right now.

1. The Quays
When? All year round
Where? Salford

Salford Quays has become one of my favourite destinations in Manchester; perfect for grabbing food or a coffee, enjoying an afternoon of shopping, going to the theatre, or simply just relaxing by the water. The Imperial War Museum, situated by the Quays is also holding an exhibition: Fashion on the Ration until May 2017. You can read more information & view ticket prices here, or have a look what's on at The Quays here.

2. Fashion & Freedom exhibition
When? Until 27th November 2016
Where? Manchester Art Gallery

Recently I headed to Manchester Art Gallery to check out this incredible exhibition featuring the fashion from the First World War, plus some stunning pieces from designers and fashion students. 1914-1918 changed and shaped British culture and challenged the woman's place in society opening up a new era of freedom. For more information, read my blog post on the exhibition here.

3. Manchester Halloween Festival
When? 24th - 31st October 2016
Where? Manchester City Centre

This year I am SO excited for Manchester's first Halloween themed festival! The city will apparently see pumpkin lined streets and buildings lit up a ghoulish green, whilst a giant mechanical spider will be free to roam the city. I am so excited for this week-long event, I hope I get spooked the f*ck out because Halloween is my favourite time of year!

4. Vogue 100: A Century of Style
When? Until 30th October 2016
Where? Manchester Art Gallery
Probably my favourite exhibition that I've attended so far this year, Vogue 100 captures the incredible evolution of fashion and culture in this brilliant photography exhibition. The exhibition takes you through Vogue's timeline, beginning with a video of the stars of today, leading you right back to Vogue's very first issue. It's free and a must-see event for any fashion addict like myself!

5. Manchester Science Festival
When? 20th - 30th October 2016
Where? Across the city
I heard about this festival a while ago, so I'm so happy to finally find out the confirmed dates. I've read that there's some pretty exciting stuff in store on the Manchester Evening News here, including turning the Arndale centre into the ultimate chill out zone where you can literally go and have a kip. Shopping and a sleeping area - Manchester, you are goals.

Manchester is such a diverse city full of culture, music, film and fashion and there's always somewhere to eat or something to see that can make your weekend.
