Location: Coronation Street Set, Granada Studios, Manchester
I'm a northern girl from Stockport, Greater Manchester, and all my life the famous Coronation Street has been playing from my television; firstly in my family home, then in both my parent's houses as a teenager, and then on ITV Player when I had
a hangover some time to chill out at university. When I first heard that The Coronation Street tour would be ending this Christmas, I knew I just had to visit. As I met my boyfriend nearly a year ago this month, as an anniversary surprise present he bought us two tickets to the tour and I was SUPER excited!
The tour begins in the old Granada studios with a guide showing us everywhere from where characters learnt their lines and the all-important costume department, to all the recognizable sets we see on a weekly basis - including the best pub in England: the Rovers Return. Unfortunately no photography is allowed on the 55 minute tour so if you want to see the props and sets for yourself you will have to get yourself down there!
At the end of the tour it was time to set foot on the cobbles, and in true Mancunian style it was of course raining! It was great to finally see the street in all its glory and we even treated ourselves to some souvenirs from the gift shop, which is full to the brim of Coronation Street goodies! I highly recommend the tour which was value for money, informative, fun and an all round great day out. Grab your tickets at the website here!
Not only is the tour ending, they're demolishing the old Corrie set!
It's truly the end of an era, so get down there whilst you still can!
